Nordette ®

chantealRuby Learn More ButtonNordette ® is a combination oral contraceptive (birth control pill) prconsisting of ethinyl estradiol and levonorgesterel. A combination birth control pill such as Nordette ® contains both a progestin and an estrogen. Combination birth control pills are also prescribed for some cases of prolonged or painful periods, disease of the ovaries with cysts, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, acne and the absence of menstrual periods, among other conditions.

Nordette ® is prescribed most commonly for the prevention of pregnancy but may also be prescribed for any of the conditions listed above in most cases.

Nordette ® 28

For women who are not yet ready to start a family, Nordette ® 28 is ideal. Like all combination pills, it has no long term impact on a woman’s fertility. Once you decide you would like to become pregnant, you can simply stop taking the pill. For most women, they may begin trying to get pregnant right away following the discontinued use of the pill. When used correctly, the pill is 99.9% effective in preventing pregnancy.

Nordette ® side effects are minimal and may not occur in all women. The most common include nausea, vomiting, vaginal irritation and breast tenderness. Nordette ® 28 prevents pregnancy in several ways. First, the vaginal fluid becomes thicker so that it is more difficult for sperm to travel. The uterine wall also changes to make it more difficult for a fertilized egg to become attached. If the fertilized egg doesn’t attach, it simply passes out through the woman’s body.

Nordette ® and Acne

Many women and teenagers use medications like Nordette ® for the treatment of moderate to severe acne. Because frequent breakouts can be the result of hormone fluctuations, combination birth control pills can often reduce the frequency of acne breakouts. There are several types of conditions that make combination birth control an unsafe medication for a woman to take. Some of the most common conditions include uncontrolled high blood pressure, any blood-clotting disorder, heart disease, issues with the eyes or kidneys resulting from diabetes, unusual vaginal bleeding, liver disease, liver cancer, if you are over the age of 35 and smoke cigarettes, suffer from severe headaches or migraines, have uterine or breast cancer, jaundice from birth control, stroke, blood clot or heartache.

Nordette ® Birth Control Reviews

If you are unsure if Nordette ® is a good choice for you, you may want to read some Nordette ® birth control reviews to familiarize yourself with what the average user experience is. You doctor, however, is the only one who can definitively decide whether or not Nordette ® is appropriate for you. This is often determined by filling out an in-depth profile of your medical history. It’s never advisable to take Nordette ® without a prescription for a licensed physician. You should never take any medication that is prescribed for someone else. Additionally, while birth control like Nordette ® is used for pregnancy prevention, it does not protect a woman against HIV or any other sexually transmitted disease. If you are planning on having unprotected sex, it’s important to talk to you partner about their STD status prior to intercourse.
Other important things to know about birth control pills is that they become less effective with each missed dose. You will want to take Nordette ® around the same time each day to maximize its effectiveness.
