Yes, we know that New Year’s resolutions are a little gimmicky and typically last as long as a Tinder fling, but that doesn’t mean they should be cast aside altogether. You should always be striving to make improvements in your life and setting goals for yourself. This year, make at least one of your resolutions revolve around self-care, because what is more important than that? Here are five totally do-able resolutions for a happier and healthier 2017:

 1. Get positive

Change your thoughts and change your life. Write a list of things in your life that you are grateful for and reflect on it. You may realize that there is more good in your life than you ever imagined. Start each day with as little as five minutes of meditation followed by saying daily affirmations to clear your mind and change your mindset.

2. Find a workout that you actually enjoy

If you are dreading your workout, you will find more excuses to skip it. If staring at the wall on a treadmill isn’t your jam, don’t fret; there are SO many fun and different ways to get your blood pumping. From cycling to aerobic yoga, an enjoyable workout is out there calling your name. Try a service like Classpass where you can try many different workout classes before you commit to a membership.

3. Treat yourself

“Life should not only be lived it should be celebrated –Osho

You don’t have to spend your entire savings account on a designer bag to treat yourself. Take yourself out to dinner and a movie or get a manicure every now and again. Get out there and celebrate life.

4. Drink more water

Water makes up roughly 60 percent of your body weight and is vital for almost every system in your body. Staying hydrated can help you improve your mood, relieve fatigue, and even help you lose weight. The amount of water you need depends on a lot of factors such as where you live, how much you exercise, etc. but women need about 9 cups (2.2 liters) a day. Keep forgetting to drink water throughout the day, don’t worry, there’s an app for that.

5. Find the birth control that’s right for you

Besides pregnancy prevention, birth control can have many benefits for your body from acne treatment to reduced risk of Ovarian Cancer.  However, it is important that you find a birth control that suits you and your body.
